Why Jordan? Why Now?
Jordan is one of the few places in the Middle East where dialogue between religions, cultures and nations is not only possible, but actively encouraged.
In a time when polarization and violence dominate many headlines, Jordan offers a unique opportunity to send a different message: that peace begins with encounters, trust and shared experiences.
Through music, dialogue and personal encounters, the Germany–Jordan Peace Initiative aims to build lasting bridges between people.
The Vision
The Germany–Jordan Peace Initiative is more than a concert project. It is the beginning of a long-term partnership between musicians, cultural institutions, schools and religious communities in Germany and Jordan.
Through artistic excellence and personal encounters, the initiative aims to foster trust, strengthen dialogue and create lasting friendships across cultural and religious boundaries.
Our vision is to establish a sustainable platform for cooperation that continues to grow far beyond the first concerts in 2027.
The Project
The Germany–Jordan Peace Initiative brings together outstanding musicians from Germany, Israel, Palestine, Syria, Egypt, Türkiye and Jordan in a unique programme of concerts, dialogue formats and cultural exchange.
During a two-week residency in Jordan, Ensemble Coexist, together with a professional project orchestra and Jordanian partner institutions, will create three symphonic concerts as well as workshops, dialogue events and educational programmes.
Ensemble Coexist
Ensemble Coexist is an international chamber ensemble bringing together professional musicians from Germany, Israel, Palestine, Syria, Egypt, Türkiye and other countries. Founded in response to growing global tensions, the ensemble demonstrates how artistic excellence and personal encounters can overcome prejudice and build trust.
As the musical heart of the Germany–Jordan Peace Initiative, Ensemble Coexist transforms dialogue into a shared artistic experience and shows that music can unite people where politics often reaches its limits.
The Project Orchestra
The Project Orchestra brings together outstanding professional musicians from Germany as well as selected young Jordanian musicians. Together, they form a unique symphony orchestra reflecting the spirit of international cooperation, artistic excellence and mutual respect.
During a two-week residency, the orchestra will perform three major symphonic concerts in Jordan together with Ensemble Coexist. Through rehearsals, workshops and shared performances, musicians from different cultural and religious backgrounds will create music that becomes a visible symbol of dialogue and peace.
Cooperation & Future Partners
The Germany–Jordan Peace Initiative is developing through a growing network of artistic, educational and cultural partners in Jordan and Germany.
The artistic foundation of the initiative is formed by Ensemble Coexist and the Project Orchestra. Further cooperation with Jordanian institutions, youth ensembles, educational organisations and partners committed to dialogue and cultural exchange is currently being developed.

BIRD e.V.
Bündnis Interreligiöses Deutschland
BIRD e.V. is the initiator and organisational partner of the Germany–Jordan Peace Initiative. Through years of experience in interreligious dialogue and the concert series “First Human – United in Music”, BIRD has developed extensive expertise in bringing together people from different cultural and religious backgrounds through music.
With its projects, BIRD creates spaces for encounters, trust and mutual understanding.
Nabiel Khubeis
Jordanian Cultural Partner
Nabiel Khubeis is a Jordanian cultural facilitator and network partner who plays a central role in developing the Germany–Jordan Peace Initiative.
Through his extensive knowledge of Jordan and his connections with local institutions, cultural actors and social stakeholders, he supports the development of the project and cooperation on site.
